You can add to these industries too, and your research can also be added to the 'bigger picture' of industries along the river. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDING TO THE MAP
Adding a Pin
On the left of the map is a list of all the pins added so far.
The pins are divided into three categories.
1) River Tame Industries
2) The River: Past, Present & Future
3) Industrial Pollution
Make sure that you add your pin to the right category by clicking on that category first.
STEP TWO
At the top left of the map is the icon to add a pin (circled in red). Click on this icon and place a pin on the map by your industry/place. You will automatically be able to add information about the industry. You can also add images.....
Adding Images to Your Pin
To add images requires a little more work, but it is still easy.
STEP THREE
You will need to open an account on Photobucket. Once you open an account click the 'UPLOAD' button on screen. It will ask you to either "Drag 'n Drop photos" or you can click the blue "Choose photos & videos" button (below). You can do either, these instructions follow clicking the blue button.
When you click the blue button your 'picture' files will automatically open. Choose the images you want and click "open". Your pictures will download to Photobucket automatically.
STEP FOUR
Once your image/images are uploaded, click on the one you want to add to the map pin. Photobucket will give you four codes. Click on the second code (red arrow, below) and it will automatically copy. Now go back to the map.
STEP FIVE
Whilst editing your pin in the map there is a photo icon in the bottom right corner (see below). Click on this button.
STEP SIX
A window will open like the one below. There are four options on the left, click "Image URL". Paste an image URL into the blue box by pressing the "CTRL" key on your keyboard, and then "v" (CTRL V). The URL code will appear in the blue box, and your image below that. Click "Select".
You can add more images by pressing the plus sign in your pin, and following the same instructions as before.
If you have problems, you can alternatively send information and images to Jenni at tameppf@gmail.com who can add the pins for you. If you would like to add to existing pins, please contact Jenni.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT EDIT OTHER PEOPLE'S PINS, ONLY ADD NEW ONES.
PLEASE NOTE: All pins must be along the River Tame and relating to the industries there, although would also like lots of pictures of the river through time as well.
MAKE YOUR OWN MAP
This is all you need to know to make your own map like this using Google Maps. Go onto the Google Maps site and follow the instructions given here, and you can make a map for your own history project.
